Face Care Women

Good facial care should ideally consist of various components: a thorough but mild cleanser, a moisturizer, a serum and an eye cream. Peels and face masks can also be performed as needed.

Facial cleansing

Twice a day is best. When it comes to cleansing your facial skin, you should not use a "normal" bar of soap, as this will stress the skin's protective acid mantle. In the morning, the skin can also be cleansed with lukewarm water only; in the evening, mild cleansing products such as a wash gel or cleansing milk can be used. For women who like to wear a lot of makeup, it is also very important to thoroughly remove all makeup residues to avoid clogging the pores and breaking off the eyelashes. The "repair" and recovery of the skin during the night's rest can only take place if the active ingredients can penetrate the skin unhindered. And for this, it must be clean. Especially for removing mascara, we recommend a mild make-up remover applied to a cotton pad or cotton ball. Please do not rub too hard to avoid irritation.

Cream or serum?

After cleansing, moisture is essential for rosy, healthy and beautiful skin. You should also include the neck and décolleté, as the skin there is relatively thin, and wrinkles can form quite quickly. With a good cream or serum you want to achieve the following: the functions of the skin should be maintained, it should look well-groomed and feel soft. A serum is a concentrated care product with a light texture which can be liquid or even slightly oily. Due to the special molecular structure of the serum, the active ingredients reach the skin deeply and effectively. Often serums are preferred to creams in the morning, as they feel lighter on the skin and provide a good base for makeup. Serums and light moisturizers are also best for men, as they do not leave a shiny film on the skin. For a serum, one dropperful is usually enough for the face and neck. Creams are generally a bit richer and therefore serve well as night care. A hazelnut-sized amount should be enough.

Eye care

For the delicate eye area, a special eye cream or a light eye gel should be used. Do not massage or rub, the product should always be patted in lightly from the inside out (for example with the ring finger). Blinking and smiling often cause the first wrinkles to appear in this region, which is why you should use an eye cream twice a day from your late 20s. Tip: if you store the eye cream in the refrigerator, you get an extra boost of freshness in the morning!

Additional info: within a 4-week cycle, the skin regenerates itself: in a lifelong cycle, skin cells migrate from the inside to the outside and are then shed on the surface. A good supply of hydration is very important for the skin: it is best to drink 1.5 to 2 liters of still water a day.

Scrubs

To help the skin get rid of dead skin cells, you can use a gentle scrub. These come in a variety of types, from mild cream scrubs with synthetic beads to coarser sugar-based ones. Please note that you should not exfoliate your skin too often, as this will destroy your natural protective barrier. If you peel your skin too often, bacteria can penetrate more easily and inflammation can occur. For normal to oily skin you may gently exfoliate once a week, for sensitive skin it is best not to exfoliate at all in order not to stress the skin unnecessarily. After the scrub, a rich cream or mask should always be applied.

Masks

Whether peel-off, cream, gel or cloth masks - masks provide our skin with an extra dose of nutrients and moisture or remove impurities extra thoroughly. Masks usually stay on the facial skin for 15-20 minutes and are then either removed with a damp cloth or peeled off in the case of a peel-off mask. Sometimes you can also just massage the residues into your skin. You should always follow the directions on the packaging to get the best effect.

FAQ

Should you change facial care products frequently?

That is up to each person. Sometimes a rich skincare range is better for winter (because of the dry heating air), and lighter, moisturising skincare products for summer (to avoid a greasy shine).

Is too much cream bad for the skin?

If you use too much cream (i.e. more than twice a day and more than a hazelnut-sized amount), pores can become clogged and blemishes can appear. The skin must still be able to breathe.

Can I use body lotion on my face?

Yes, but only in exceptional cases. Body lotions often contain intense fragrances that can irritate facial skin, which is thinner than body skin.

How do I get clear skin?

Regular cleansing and care is the basis, along with a balanced diet rich in vitamins. Sufficient exercise and sleep should not be lacking either, because stress often makes itself felt through impurities (stress spots). A weekly peeling or a cleansing face mask is also highly recommended.

I have oily skin, which skin care is the right one for me?

Moisturising care products should be used for oily skin rather than rich oil-based creams. Serums and gels are often a better choice, as the skin already produces more sebum. When drying, always be careful not to rub too hard, as this can stimulate sebum production even more. Therefore, it is better to dab gently.

What's better: serum or cream?

Serums are highly concentrated and penetrate the skin a little deeper. In contrast to the cream, they are lighter and ideal for day care. Creams are richer and are therefore often applied before going to bed. If the skin needs an extra portion of care, a serum can also be applied under the cream.

Should I use a special night cream?

Not necessarily, but you can certainly apply richer skincare at night than during the day. The skin regenerates overnight and can absorb the active ingredients well during the night. You should make sure that the product you apply before going to bed contains vitamins and nutrients that strengthen and build up the skin, such as plant stem cells and vitamin E.
