Beard care

The beard: a sign of masculinity and individuality. In recent years, the trend of wearing a beard has finally caught on! The facial hair is now again considered stylish and extravagant. Male models and actors wear a beard in movies and in advertising, again much more often than in the years before! In order to make the beard look soft and shiny instead of wild and unkempt, one should invest some time and money into beard care.

...

As everyone knows, beard hairs are thicker, more unruly and wiry than head hair, and therefore they also need to be tamed by other means. From what age a beard fully develops, varies from man to man and is mostly dependent on heredity. Some young men already have a full beard at the age of 19, for others the beard only grows at the end of 20. The hormone testosterone is largely responsible for the growth of the beard.THAT SHOULD INCLUDE YOUR BEARD CARE

Beard cleaning

The rule of thumb here is to wash the beard only twice a week with a mild shampoo, otherwise please only rinse with lukewarm water. Thus, the sebum production of the skin is not disturbed and it is also not unnecessarily dried out. When shampooing, make sure that it does not contain any aggressive surfactants or fragrances, otherwise irritation and beard dandruff may occur. A special "beard shampoo" is not necessary, a mild baby shampoo is also well suited. When drying, please do not "rub" with the towel, but gently pat the beard dry.

Beard oil

Beard oils are usually based on vegetable oils, such as sunflower seed oil, avocado oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil, vitamin E oil or argan oil, which not only make the beard hair softer and smoother, but also positively influence beard growth. The skin is cared for and soothed, irritation and redness are reduced. You should make sure that the active ingredients in a beard oil are of purely natural origin. The application is also quite simple: after cleaning, draw up the oil with the pipettte, and then put a few drops (depending on the length of the beard 4-8 drops) in the palm of your hand. Rub the product a little in the palms (so it is warmed), then massage into the beard and the underlying skin. Thus, the beard is optimally supplied with vitamins and active ingredients around the clock. In summary, it can be said that a beard oil provides the skin under the beard hair with moisture and vitamins, makes the brittle, unruly beard hair softer and shinier and it also gives the beard a good scent. Tip: Please do not use too much beard oil, otherwise the beard can quickly look greasy.

Beard Growth

Since not every man is blessed with a plump, dense beard growth on the face, many wonder what products could stimulate or accelerate beard growth. With a little patience, a beard serum in combination with a dermaroller could bring good results here. By means of the microfine titanium needles, the skin is perforated, the serum is better absorbed and introduced into the skin. The blood circulation and the collagen formation are stimulated which has a positive effect on the roots of the beard hair. One should not exceed a needle length of 0.5mm for home use. The beard serum should contain active ingredients such as biotin and vitamin E, which simultaneously strengthen and nourish the skin under the hair. A beard serum should be applied daily after cleansing with light massage movements

(Beard) hair vitamins

Vitamins and minerals are very important to provide the beard hair with optimal care from the inside as well. Especially biotin and zinc are the best choice for smooth and shiny hair. Often known as the "women's vitamin", biotin is now having its big breakthrough in the men's world as well, as it nourishes the hair roots and can thus contribute to better beard growth. Biotin and zinc can be found in dietary supplements such as skin, hair & nails capsules and are quite easy to dose. One capsule a day is usually enough here to be optimally supplied!

FAQ

How long does the beard oil last?

After opening, the beard oil should be used within 6 months. You should store it as cool as possible and keep the bottle out of the sun. Beard oils are best dispensed with a pipette, which is most hygienic and prevents contamination of the product.

How often should I use the beard oil?

You can use the beard oil once or twice a day after cleansing. A few drops are enough, otherwise your beard will quickly look greasy and unkempt. It is best to apply the oil to the skin and beard hair with massaging movements./p>

Which oil is the best for my beard?

Vegetable oils such as avocado oil and argan oil not only care for the beard hair, but also the skin underneath. This prevents dandruff and leaves the beard looking well-groomed. Other valuable oils for skin and hair in general are: Jojoba oil and vitamin E oil.

What is the difference between a beard serum and a beard oil?

A beard serum contains active ingredients that stimulate hair growth and reduce beard hair loss. A beard oil has more nourishing properties for the beard hair and the skin underneath. A beard serum has a lighter texture than a rich beard oil. A beard serum can be used in combination with a dermaroller, a beard oil cannot.

My beard itches, what can I do?

Cleansing twice a week with a mild baby shampoo is sufficient. Do not shampoo the beard more often, especially if the skin underneath is sensitive. Do not scratch with your fingernails, this can lead to inflammation. It is best to massage a nourishing beard oil into your beard every day and make sure that it does not contain any aggressive fragrances. Please also do not apply perfume to the beard!

I have dandruff in my beard! How can that be?

If dandruff is becoming noticeable in the beard, then the skin under the beard hair needs an extra portion of care. Dry heating air, too much sun or aggressive care products can dry out and stress the skin. In this case, rinse the beard for a few days with lukewarm water only and massage a nourishing beard oil into it twice a day.

Do I need a beard shampoo?

Beard shampoos are not a must. A mild baby shampoo can also be used. You should make sure to use a moisturising product that does not remove oils from the skin and does not negatively affect the skin's protective barrier. A shampoo should be used for the beard area only a maximum of twice a week.

What can damage my beard?

Poor environmental influences can have a negative effect on the appearance of the beard: dry heating air, too much sun, chlorine or salt water do not only remove moisture from the beard hairs, but can also put a lot of stress on the skin underneath. It is therefore important to protect the beard area, while on holiday with sun cream and generally with a natural beard oil.
